A total of 90 members of the Communist Party of the Philippines-National Democratic Front-New People’s Army (CPP-NDF-NPA) withdrew their support from the communist movement and surrendered to an army unit in Barangay San Rafael, municipality of Talakag, Bukidnon and Barangay Hinapuyan, municipality of Carmen, Surigao del Sur over the weekend.

In Talakag, Bukidnon 70 communist rebels comprising of 29 Milisya ng Bayan members, two Sangay sa Partido sa Lokalidad members, and 39 Hingpit na Organisadong Masa members belonging to the Sub-Regional Committee 5 of North Central Mindanao Regional Committee also withdrew their support from the communist movement and surrendered to army community support program team of Alpha Company, 65th Infantry Battalion under 1Lt. Louie Kent Heredia.

The mass surrender happened during a community dialogue held in San Rafael, Talakag, Bukidnon. The NPA members and supporters are residents of Barangay San Rafael, Indulang, and Tikalaan, all of Talakag.

Heredia presented the rebels to Mayor.Vergito Factura, of Talakag, Bukidnon during the activity who in turn led the Oath of Allegiance of the former rebels.

On the same day, a total of 20 rebels surrender anew and also pledge their allegiance to the government at Barangay Hinapuyan, municipality of Carmen, Surigao del Sur.

The mass surrender was composed of eight regular members, one couriers, two organizers, one medic, one collector, and seven contact members who withdrew their support from the communist movement and surrendered to the CSP team of Charlie Company under 1Lt. Emmanuel Magsanoc of the Army’s 36th Infantry Battalion.

Jane Plaza, town Mayor of Carmen administered the pledge of allegiance to the government with Lt. Col. Xerxes Trinidad, commanding officer of 36IB together with Dir. Adshary Banto, Regional Director of Tesda who after which assisted the distribution of assorted food packs to the twenty former rebels.

The 90 former-rebels will be processed and validated for their enrollment to E-clip, a government intervention package for former rebels.
