A MALL worker, described by his mother as a man who frowned over substance abuse, was killed in a vigilante-style shooting in Barangay Camaman-an Tuesday night.

Capt. TawileGaleon, Cogon police chief, identified the victim as John Mark Lagumbay of Adela Subdivision, Camaman-an.

The gunman shot Lagumbay to the right leg and abdomen with a caliber .45 pistol.

Galeon said investigators have identified a suspect but investigators were still building a case against him.

He said investigators suspected the shooting was drug-related because the suspect is an alleged drug peddler.

At first, he said, “galisudmi’gilasasuspetsadokayangmgasilingandiliga-cooperate sakapolisan.”

But Galeon said a witness mustered enough courage to secretly get in touch with the police and provided useful information.

The witness, according to Galeon, saw Lagumbay being dragged by the killer at gunpoint to a street corner where the mall worker was shot.

Lagumbay’s mother Evangeline said his son had no known enemies, and she even described him as very friendly to everyone.

Evangeline said her son was also an anti-drug advocate who went out of his way to advise younger people in their neighborhood to stay away from illegal drugs.
