Addu survey shows Rody, mate on top

DAVAO City — PDP-Laban standard bearer Mayor Rodrigo  Duterte and his running mate Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano topped the in-campus survey of the Ateneo de Davao University (Addu) dubbed “Blue Vote Electoral Polls 2016.”

The in-campus survey, conducted from March 6 to 14, covered Addu’s two Davao City campuses and its off-campus sites, the Catigan Farm in Toril and the St. Ignatius Spirituality Center in Samal Island.

The survey covered 1,877 respondents, of whom 1,273 were of voting age.

Presented on Monday at Addu’s Community Center of the First Companions, the survey results showed that Duterte garnered 89.9 percent, followed by Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago with 2.5 percent, Sen. Grace Poe with 1.6 percent, former local government secretary Mar Roxas, and Vice President Jejomar Binay with 1 percent each.

Respondents of voting age showed the same preference for presidential and vice presidential candidates.

Among the candidates for vice president, Cayetano garnered 49.7 percent followed by Sen. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. with 22 percent.

Rep. Leni Robredo got 8.8 percent, Sen. Francis Escudero 6.4 percent, Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV 1.4 percent and Gringo Honasan 1.2 percent.

For senatorial candidates, Risa Hontiveros topped the survey with 57.0 percent followed by Juan Miguel Zubiri with 55.5 percent, Dick Gordon with 51.3 percent, Sergio Osmena with 49.8 percent, Frank Drilon with 49.2 percent, Panfilo Lacson with 48.7 percent;

Ralph Recto with 42.7 percent, Francis Pangilinan with 39.6 percent, former Justice secretary Leila de Lima with 37.2 percent, Francis Tolentino with 32.2 percent, Erwin Gatchalian with 31.2 percent, and Rep. Manny Pacquiao with 30.4 percent.

Among the 1,273 respondents of voting age, Zubiri got 63.5 percent, Hontiveros 63.5 percent, Gordon 54.8 percent, Lacson 53.6 percent, Drilon 52.2 percent, Recto 50.3 percent, Osmena 50.2 percent, Pangilinan 50.3 percent, Teofisto Guingona 32.4 percent, De Lima 32.1 percent, Gatchalian 31.5 percent.

Respondents were mostly pupils from the grade school and students from the high school of the Matina campus, college students, faculty, administrators and office-based non-teaching staff from the Jacinto campus and the off-campus sites.

The Addu will conduct a city-wide electoral survey in the coming days. (antonio colina IV)
