Adiong to push for ‘sincere reforms’

Lanao del Sur — Governor Soraya Alonto Adiong gave President Rodrigo Duterte’s first State of the Nation Address on Monday the highest rating saying she is hopeful that a sincere reform under the new administration will take place.

Adiong graded President Duterte’s Sona a 10 of 10 rate. She added she gave Duterte the highest grade because most of the plans, policies, and programs the President mentioned in the Sona are akin to her 8-point agenda of governance.

“Like him (Duterte), it is my goal to eradicate illegal activities such as using and peddling of illegal drugs here in Lanao del Sur,” said Adiong.

Her first priority is to formulate gender development programs, especially for women, youth, and senior citizens.

“The President also wants to see a healthy constituency and I echo this desire by enhancing current health programs of the province,” Adiong said.

Like Duterte, Adiong also plans to boost local toursim by building a network of roads which would connect the islands in her province.

Adiong believes tourism and promotion of the Maranao culture could boost local income in the communities of the province.

She said that these network of roads will connect barangays and towns in Lanao del Sur, and other provinces, and these shall help boost local tourism and promote the Maranao culture to non-Maranaos.

While the President wants peace and order and encourages this among the Filipinos, regardless of tribe, religion and personal beliefs, Adiong said it is also part in her  agenda of governance to implement plans, policies, programs and activities that would also ensure lasting peace and order by regularly convening the Provincial Peace and Order Council.
