Among the new technologies offered by international agricultural suppliers are solar-powered cold storage facilities and domestic portable cold storage containers.

In her keynote speech, Senator Cynthia Villar recognized the role of cold chain stakeholders in developing the country’s agriculture as well as sustaining economic progress. She also called on the cold chain industry to be actively engaged in policy advocacy to ensure that cold chain development will be supported by the government.

“You need to educate us (legislators). I urge your organization to create your lobby group so that you can help us make sound legislation towards developing our agriculture,” Villar said.

The gathering was also attended by USDA Counselor Ralph Bean, Global Cold Chain Alliance Vice President Richard Tracy, Oro Chamber President Jeffry Ang and City Mayor Oscar Moreno. (cc)
