Northern Mindanao Agriculture department in partnership with the Army’s 4th Infantry Division has set up a 2-day farmers’ outlet dubbed as “Tienda Para sa mga Bayani” inside the camp to allow farmers to directly sell their products to consumers, and provide soldiers and their families access to safe, quality and affordable food items.

Headed by Regional Director Carlene C. Collado chose the soldiers as recipient of “TienDA para sa mga Bayani” on February 27-28, 2019 where fresh farm produce and commodities were provided to the soldiers and their dependents inside camp.

TienDA is a new marketing system launched by DA that aims to eliminate unnecessary layers in the supply chain by linking the farmers of Northern Mindanao region directly to the consumers that for the next 2 days, the soldiers of 4th ID.

TienDA was formally opened at 8:30 a.m. on February 27,  with Collado and 4ID commander Brigadier General Franco Nemesio M. Gacal, together with the representatives from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) and National Food Authority (NFA) and the officers, enlisted personnel and civilian employees of the command.

The soldiers appreciated the partnership, time and effort of DA, BFAR and NFA of Region 10 and the farmers for choosing 4th ID as recipient of TienDA.

This was the second time that the activity was conducted inside the camp since it was launched last July 31, 2018 with USec Jose Gabriel M. La Viňa of the Department of Agriculture.

 “We welcome the hardworking farmers in Region 10 inside our humble military camp and we extend our earnest appreciation of their sacrifices in bringing farm products accessible to our busy soldiers,” said Brigadier General Gacal said adding that the said activity enriches good relationships among farmers, soldiers and other government agencies.
