Camp Alagar spokesperson Supt. Lemuel Gonda said police regional director Chief Supt. Timoteo Pacleb ordered all local police directors in Region 10 to coordinate with other law enforcement units, including the Army.

“Full alert, security plan already disseminated to all police offices,” said Gonda.

Gonda said Pacleb instructed them to deploy all their civil disturbance management personnel to areas where Labor Day activities would take place.

According to Gonda, police would be on guard against criminals who might take advantage of the Labor Day activities.

“This is to prevent bombings, throwing of metal spikes, any act meant to sabotage, and terroristic activities,” said Gonda.

As early as Monday night, militants started to hold a demonstration in connection with the Labor Day celebration. They stayed overnight at the covered courts of Lapasan and Gusa in preparation for bigger protests today. Student activists joined groups that came from Misamis Oriental and Bukidnon.

Francisco Pagayaman, spokesperson of the Kadamay in northern Mindanao, said the barangay chairpersons of Lapasan and Gusa gave their consent.

At 6 am today, the Kilusang Mayo Uno would lead activists at the capitol grounds. They would march toward Kiosko Kagawasan in Divisoria at around 7 am.

“Isa ni ka adlaw nga protesta,” said Pagayaman. “Grabe ang ratsada sa presyo sa mga palaliton. Ang tam-is nga  softdrinks nga maoy gaimnon sa mga pobre, gipatas-an nga nakahatag ug dugang gastos sa atong katawhan.”
