CAMP Alagar said it is ready for Monday’s opening of classes across northern Mindanao even as it assured it was working closely with the Department of Education (Deped) and other stakeholders to ensure a peaceful and orderly school opening.

Police in the region also  participated in the Brigada Eskwela 2015 with the theme: “Tayo Para sa Kalinisan at Kahandaan ng Ating Paaralan” by cleaning the school surroundings, repairing and repainting school buildings to create a cleaner, safer, and livelier environment conducive to learning.

Aside from establishing Police Assistance Desks (Pads) where students and other individuals can report cases of bullying, snatching and other crimes, its personnel will also be deployed to conduct foot patrol near schools.

Police further cautions students to be wary and refrain from talking to strangers, avoid wearing expensive jewelry, avoid bringing large amounts of money to schools and refrain from using expensive phones while in the streets.

Chief Supt. Lyndel  Desquitado, police regional director, encouraged the public particularly students to report any incidents or other street crimes to police officers assigned at Pads or to the nearest police post or station or through social media, such as, Twitter and Facebook of police units/offices.
