Pigcawayan, Cotabato — A barangay kagawad supplying illegal drugs in Sultan Kudarat and Cotabato City was caught during a drug buy-bust operation yesterday.
The suspect was identified as Mohammad Mamalinta, a Barangay Kagawad of Barangay Balacayon was caught along with a companion named Jojet Sapal in Barangay Pinaring, where they met with a police officer who posed as a buyer to do the exchange. The two traversed along the Simsiman-Pinaring road to evade checkpoints set-up by the authorities in the national highway due to tightened security after the Pigcawayan clash.
Mamalinta and Sapal was caught in possession of nine packs of suspected shabu amounting to P2.5 million, two .45 caliber pistols, and marked money.
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Armm and Maguindanao Provincial Police carried out the operations after using a confiscated cellphone of a drug dealer on one of their recent drug busts in the area, the police used the cellphone to pose as a buyer which led to the arrest of Mamalinta.
The authorities are now preparing to file the charges against them and is currently detained in the Sultan Kudarat Police Station.
