Iligan City — Another hearing of the case against embattled city mayor Celso Regencia has been scheduled tomorrow.

Norberto Altres, spokesperson for former congressman Vicente Belmonte, Jr said the hearing would still be on the petition for bail from the mayor’s camp.

To recall, the case has been transferred to Branch 77, of the Regional Trial Court Quezon City presided over by Judge Ferdinand Baylon. The Supreme Court also has directed the jail guard at Tipanoy, where the mayor is presently detained, to transfer him to Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig, Quezon City. Until now, the Order has yet to be implemented. The case was formerly with Branch 44 of the Regional Trial Court of Misamis Oriental at Initao.

Altres said medico legal officers would testify on the side of the prosecution and probably would include testimonies of Dominador Tumala, the star witness of the case who, he said is under the government’s Witness Protection Program.

To recall too, Regencia is accused of being behind the ambush of the convoy of Belmonte in December  11, 2014 near the Laguin-dingan airport. The camp of Regencia has been tagging the case as “ambush me” as Tumala, his lawyers said executed two affidavits,  with the first affidavit not naming the mayor’s involvement but only in the second affidavit only.

Two other hearings are scheduled, on the 21st and  28, it was learned.
