POLICE arrested two alleged drug traders and seized nearly half a million pesos worth of ‘shabu’ during an anti-illegal drug operation in one of the subdivisions in Barangay Balulang the city Wednesday evening.

Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) Director Police Col. Aaron Mandia identified the suspects as Jonel Tongol alias ‘Juntungs’, 39, married, and a resident of Villa Angela Subdivision, Barangay Balulang; and Michael Villanueva, 40, married, and residing at Calaanan, Barangay Canitoan, both of the said city.

Mandia said the suspects were arrested by personnel assigned at police station number 8 under the supervision of Police Major Aldrin Baculio in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 10 (PDEA-10) at about 7 pm at Villa Angela Subdivision in Balulang of the same city.

In a police report, it was learned that the raiding team had first bought from the suspects a sachet of heat-sealed transparent cellophane containing the white crystalline substance of suspected shabu worth P1,000.

The same group then recovered from the possession of Tungol 2 large sachets and another 5 small sachets all containing suspected shabu.

The said contraband, according to police has a total estimated weight of 60 grams with a total estimated market value of P408,000,00; a P1,000 bill buy-bust money; and some personal belongings.

Mandia said his men are still investigating the suspects as the identities of their source and the place where they got the hot items.

The suspects are now under the custody of the said police station for a case filing.

Mandia lauded the efforts of the operating elements for the job well done.

During a press conference at COCPO headquarter last week, City Mayor Rolando Uy promised the police officials that he will give incentives to every accomplishment the police would make.
