DIGOS City ― A man who was the subject of a buy-bust operation, for possible selling of illegal drugs, lost his life when he fought it out with the authorities shortly before midnight on May 10.

Toril police station reported that operatives went to Purok-13, GTH in Lubogan, Toril District, Davao City, and initiated the sting operation using a poseur-buyer in an effort to catch their objective known as John Rey Dedoro.

Dedoro, 26, jobless, and a resident of Rasay Street, Barangay Poblacion, Toril District, Davao City took the bait of selling a sachet of suspected prohibited drugs to the police agent acting as poseur-buyer, Uyanguren said in the report.

Uyanguren added Dedoro sensed he was dealing with the police, drew a handgun aimed towards the poseur-buyer who managed to distract the trajectory of the bullet by tapping Dedoro’s hand and at the same time pulled his service pistol and fired towards the suspect that neutralized the situation.

Showing signs of life, the police report said, Mobile Patrol No. 31 rushed Dedoro to Mediquest Hospital for immediate treatment of his wounds.

However, attending physician Dr. Jedel Mae Serrano officially declared the suspect dead on arrival at about 11:05 pm.

Prior to the shootout, the poseur-buyer successfully purchased one sachet of suspected shabu from Dedoro, weighing 4.35 grams using the marked P1,000 bills which were recovered from the suspect after the incident.

Meanwhile, police officers picked up the cellular phone, and a pouch that fell into the ground during the confrontation and subjected it for proper inspection.

When it was inspected, it revealed at least six more sachets of suspected shabu of various weights were found.

The police said the seized items weighs 18.87 grams of shabu with a street value of P301,920.

It was submitted to the police forensic laboratory for the needed confirmation as to the authenticity of the prohibited drugs.

Meanwhile, Davao City’s Scene of the Crime Operatives unit recovered a .3 caliber revolver with two live ammunition and two empty casings of .38 caliber in its chamber. Two more empty cartridges of Caliber 9mm pistol were also retrieved at the crime scene.
