Police said they were still facing a blank wall and could not say who the men were and what their motive was. Authorities said there were three armed men who set afire a Toyota Hi-Ace van that was serving as a public utility vehicle.

The van had eight passengers, including the three suspects. Police said the suspects, who posed as passengers, suddenly drew their guns, pointed these to the driver and his aide, and ordered them to stop.

The armed men then instructed everyone to disembark, and then they burned the vehicle.

Candelario Salas, barangay chairman of San Andres, called the police station for help. Investigators said the van, bearing license plates LWZ-999 and owned by Danilo Molejon Sr. of Tagum City, was driven by Lardy Juliane Manzo of San Francisco, Agusan del Sur.

ERRATUM
We are publishing the story of our Butuan correspondent Ben Serrano, “Armed men burn public van in Agsur,” which appeared in our July 31 issue. Inadvertedly, the continuation of the article in our jump page was mixed up with another story on the National Deworming Day. We experienced technical glitches due to the rotational blackouts in the city. Our sincerest apologies.
