The DENR has an ongoing project entitled, “Installation of AWLS in relation to the implementation of Science-Based Real-Time Watershed Instrumentation at the Agusan-Cugman Cluster of Watersheds in Bukidnon and Misamis Oriental Province.”

A typical Automatic Water Level Station includes three parameters: a pressure sensor for the measurement of the water level; an automatic tipping bucket rain gauge; and an air temperature sensor

The project is part of the network of watershed in the Philippines for the database generation that will involve characterization of the physical, biological, socio-economic components of the watershed and identify critical areas through vulnerability assessment and instrumentation of the said cluster.

Under the memorandum, DENR shall install a one unit AWLS at the Cugman bridge with the assistance of the DPWH.

For its part, the city government shall provide assistance to the DENR in safeguarding and securing the instrument from unlawful activities.

The ordinance was endorsed by the committees on environment and on laws and rules chaired by Councilors Enrico Salcedo and Ian Mark Nacaya, respectively. (sp)
