Highlighting the opening ceremony was the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the capitol and the Centrio Mall.
“Through this MOU, the province and Centrio will conduct tourismelated activities which will be mutually beneficial to both parties,” said Jeffrey Saclot, provincial tourism officer.
The MOU specifically states that Centrio will extend discounts to all non-Misamis Oriental residents who will patronize select merchants of the mall until Jan. 15, 2015.
The MOU was signed by Ms. Loren Yasay, Centrio marketing manager, and Gov. Emano for the capitol.
One of the witnesses was Department of Tourism regional director Catalino Chan III who lauded Emano for his vision and commitment for tourism development.
“He is the only governor in the country that dares to think outside the box when it comes to development. He is a visionary who sees the potential of tourism, and courageously pursues that vision for his people. Whenever we talk of tourismelated matters, and decisions are needed, it does not take him overnight to make up his mind,” Chan said.
Emano vowed to speed up necessary projects to complete the infrastructure for tourism development even as he invited tourists to check on the sights that Misamis Oriental has to offer.
“Our beaches can compare with the best of the world. Our waterfalls, springs and nature trekking sites are unique. Of course, our best asset is our friendly and smiling people,” Emano said.
Completing the event were entertainment numbers by the provincial dance troupe, and performers from the towns of Manticao, Lugait and Naawan.
