National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa commended controversial Ozamiz City Police Chief Insp. Jovie Espenido after he arrested three suspected drug pushers only several days after his assumption.

This was disclosed by Chief Insp. Mardy Hortillosa II, deputy spokesperson of Police Regional Office 10 that PNP chief Dela Rosa has commended and challenged Espenido during his visit on Tuesday in northern Mindanao.

Dela Rosa was in northern Mindanao when he personally inaugurated the new police station in the towns of Aluran and Clarin, Misamis Occidental. He also went to Ozamiz to personally check on the status of Espenido.

Reports submitted before PRO 10 yesterday, Espenido and his men arrested three top marijuana dealers in Ozamiz City during a buy-bust operation who were identified as Ariel Bundaon; Lindon Bolante and Rosevilla Villamor, all residents in the city.

Confiscated during the buy-bust operations were almost a thousand of marijuana stalks and three kilos of marijuana seeds.

In a press statement, Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog Sr. also commended Espenido’s successful buy-bust operation as he welcomed the arrival of the new police chief so they can work together “in fighting illegal drugs and in maintaining peace and order.” (Lito Rulona)
