Birthdays are usually celebrated with friends and family, but for some they opt to celebrate their year of birth, by offering it to others.
Boogie Musni-Rivera a well-known fashion designer here in Cagayan de Oro celebrated his birthday by celebrating it with YWAM (Youth With A Mission) Nehemiah House Inc ., foundation last October 20, 2018 at the function room of Jollibee Gateway in Limketkai center with more than a dozen kids in attendance.
The said foundation was founded in 1996 to provide a Christ-centered home for female victims of sexual abuse, maltreatment, child prostitution and abandonment, between the ages of 7 to 18 years old, currently they have two locations one in this city, and another in malaybalay, Bukidnon.
Although Rivera was not present at the time because he is currently in New York, he still got to see the festivity live via app. Also, the newly crowned Miss Cagayan de Oro Mary Chris Suico graced the occasion and actively joined the kids in photo opts, lunch, games and other activities – The latter is an active supporter of the environment and the empowerment of women & children and their rights.
The children may have had a rough time in the past dealing with traumatic experiences; but through this simple gesture, they can still hold on to the thought that they are not alone, and they can still look forward to a brighter future filled with the same genuine smile and laughter they have shown on that day.
I guess for people such as Rivera, this is a way of thanking God for all the blessing that came to his way.
