Broke, man suffering from diabetes hangs self

Correspondent .

A MAN from Lanao del Norte hanged himself apparently because of depression in Pagatpat on Wednesday night.

M/Sgt. Rey Labis of the Bulua police, identified the suicide as Wendel Babasol, 36, of Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte.

Labis said the victim just came from Lanao del Norte the same day and was at the house of his elder brother in Barangay Pagatpat.

He was discovered by house occupants already hanging.

Police said Babasol tied a rope around his neck and hanged himself.

Labis said investigators suspected that depression due to deteriorating health drove Babasol to commit suicide.

“Nag antus daw siyag diabetes unya wala silay trabaho,” Labis said.

But he said investigators were not yet ruling out other possibilities.

Meanwhile, police have identified the man who committed suicide by jumping from the Maharlika Bridge on April 2.

He was identified as Carl Chester Baid, 26, of Zone 9, Anahon, Barangay Bulua, this city.

Police said the suicide used to work abroad, and his family could not figure out why he took his own life.
