A bumbling thief did not turn off the global positioning system (GPS) of a cell phone he stole which led the police to his exact location. He was arrested yesterday afternoon.

Authorities identified the non-techie thief as Noemer David a.k.a. Lolong, 24, a resident of Block 3, Barangay Macasandig, this city.
Maj. Ericson Sabanal of the Macasandig police said David burglarized Crafty Line Café located at 9th and 16th Sts., Nazareth Subdivision at around 1 am Monday.

Sabanal said the victim, Justice Bronola, 23, used his cell phone to track his other phone which enabled the police to trace David to his exact location in real-time.

A suspect’s neighbor then helped authorities in identifying the suspect through the former’s Facebook account.

Arresting officers proceeded to David’s house and arrested him.

Police operatives were able to retrieve the stolen items from the suspect’s possession.

Recovered from the suspect were a black bag containing two mobile phones, pocket wifi, a white gold bracelet valued at P5,000, a driver’s license and other IDs, a P1,700-check, and P4,500 in cash.

Authorities were also able to seize inside the same bag a polo shirt believed to have been worn by David when he burglarized the café.
David is currently detained at Macasandig police mini-cell pending the filing of a theft case.
