CAMIGUIN Island — With over a hundred divers across the world, Camiguin’s first-ever Dive Festival has showcased more than 500 activities since its launching.

The first of its kind in Northern Mindanao, the dive fest is a project of the Provincial Government of Camiguin and supported by the Department of Tourism-10.

It aims to showcase the hardly-seen dive sites of the island and strengthen the cause in promoting responsible and sustainable tourism.

One of the highlights of the festival was the Underwater Photography Competition with categories on macro and wide-angle photography.

For the macro category, Lauren Hubbard bagged the first place while Daniel Dominic Calo and Edgar Allan Zeta Yap earned the second and third spots, respectively.

Meanwhile, for the wide-angle category, Peter Gosling earned the first place while Jo Nathaniel Yasay and Jeffrey Ong got the second and third ranks, respectively.

All of Camiguin dive center partners are duly certified by the Philippine Commission on Sports Scuba Diving while the government ensured the compliance on safety, rules and operating procedures in executing the development of sports scuba diving in the country. (camiguin tourism office)
