CAMP Alagar has relieved a dozen police officials even as it announced a plan to reshuffle provincial and city police chiefs in northern Mindanao before October.

But Bukidnon Gov. Jose Ma. Zubiri yesterday complained about the National Police’s move to replace police chiefs in northern Mindanao with officials who are unknown to local chief executives.

Zubiri, the chairman of the Regional Peace and Order Council, said he found out that some of the replacements were from Ozamiz, and some were rejects from Luzon. He said he feared cities and provinces in Region 10 were being made as dumping grounds for “trash.”

“I’m appealing nga dili mana pwede padalhan ug pulis sa amu probinsya ug munisipyo  nga wa mi kalibutan. Gusto namu amu gyud susihon kinsa na sila. Dawbig didto na sa pikas probinsya  gidudhan na sa illegal nga droga, sa illegal gambling unya gipasa ra dinhi sa Bukidnon ug sa Misamis Oriental?” Zubiri asked rhetorically.

The RPOC chairman said expressed his disappointment even as Camp Alagar relieved a dozen key police officials across Region 10 because of their supposed “poor performance” in the ongoing National Police campaign against the illegal drugs trade.

Camp Alagar also announced yesterday that city and provincial police chiefs in the region would be reshuffled by the end of the month.

Supt. Surki Sereñas, Camp Alagar spokesman, said the order came from police regional director Chief Supt. Noel Constantino, and it took effect on Monday.

Sereñas said those relieved were the chiefs of police of Cabanglasan and Kalilangan in Bukidnon,  Villanueva,  Magsaysay, and Lagonglong in Misamis Oriental,  Jimenez , Concepcion, Don Victoriano and Chiongbian in Misamis Occidental, Pantar and Tangcal in Lanao del Norte, and a police station chief in Iligan City.

Sereñas said the officials had to be replaced because they performed poorly in the National Police’s “Double Barrel” campaign against the illegal drugs trade.

The decision, he said, was made following evaluations and validations of the police officials’ two-month performance.

Sereñas said an “oversight committee” was consulted, and submitted recommendations.

Constantino ordered the relieved officials to report to the support staff offices of their provincial or city police  offices effective Sept. 5. They are to serve a staff officers during a one-year “probation period.”

Camp Alagar however did not reveal who the replacements would be.

Gov. Zubiri said he met with Misamis Oriental Gov. Yevgeny Vincente Emano, Mayor Oscar Moreno, other local executives and officials of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) in the region.

Zubiri said there were other local chief executives who complained about Camp Alagar’s move.

He called on  National Police Director General Ronald dela Rosa to give local chief executives a say and not give them police chiefs who are unknown to them.

“Ang mga basura gilabay sa amu,” said Zubiri.
