Physical injuries topped the crimes against person with 1,117 cases followed by rape with 450, murder with 367, and homicide with 99.

Crime against property consists of robbery (459 cases), theft (859 cases), carnapping (201 cases), and cattle rustling (14 cases).

Non-index crimes also dropped to 10,853 from 15,445 cases. Examples of non-index crimes are reckless imprudence resulting to homicide, physical injuries, and damage to property as well as violation of special laws.

Meanwhile crime solution efficiency and crime clearance efficiency increased by 8.5 percent and 11.7 percent, respectively.

Abalde attributed the decrease in crime volume to the extension of martial law and police efforts like the conduct of checkpoint operations.

He said the installation of chief-of-police trained on Investigation Officer Basic Course, conduct of case reviews of all cases and dialogues with the DOJ Prosecution Service and investigators also contributed to the positive performance of PRO-10. (pia x)
