ILIGAN City — Another forum for this city’s candidates has been scheduled at the city plaza at 1 pm today.

However, Nacionalista party spokesman Boy Decena told the Gold Star Daily that they have decided not to attend the forum.

They came up with the decision, he said, after a meeting with their core group.

Among the reasons Decena cited were that they received the invitation, only three days before the scheduled day and they could “no longer adjust their schedules” as they have already made previous commitments.

Unlike the previous forum in March at MSU-Iligan Institute of Technology also initiated by the school, he said they were given invitation three weeks earlier.

The forum is organized by the Commission on Elections, along with the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting, the local Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces here, together with the Department of Interior and Local Government, the Philippine Information Agency and the local advisory council.

There were reports that City Mayor Celso Regencia and his team will not attend the forum.

Decena said that the invitation, though bearing the signature of Comelec officer Anna Liza Barredo, did not have a logo of Comelec. They also worry about the security of those attending as the plaza is an open space. (Nora Sorino)
