Gingoog City — City Mayor Erick Cañosa signed a memorandum of agreement to support the development and strengthen the operation of the Gingoog Bay Alliance (GBA) in protecting marine life in the bay.

The agreement was signed during the GBA executive board meeting, technical working group conference, and election of officers on Tuesday at Penthouse City Hall building, this city.

In the agreement, Cañosa pledged P1 million financial support for GBA’s operation.

Other mayors who signed the agreement were re-elected GBA chairman Mayor Rommel Maslog of Talisayan who pledged P100,000: elected GBA Vice Chairman Mayor Rey Buhisan of Magsaysay who pledge P100,000, elected GBA treasurer Mayor Aaron Unabia of Balingoan who pledge P100,000, and elected GBA auditor Mayor Donato Chan of Medina who pledged P200,000.

The Office of the provincial governor of Misamis Oriental through Gov. Yevgeny Vincente Emano also pledged P500,000.

Misamis Oriental District 1 Rep. Christian Unabia through his father Vice Mayor Unabia GBA adviser also pledged support for all regular operation and the development of GBA but refuse to disclosed the amount.

The signing of agreement on adopting protected areas of Barangays of San Juan, Punong, and Pangasihan, this city also was also signed during GBA activity by Lt. Marconi Satur, Chief of  Maritime Police, based in Balingoan and the barangay councils the barangays involved.
