LAGONGLONG, Misamis Oriental — Lagonglong local government has reacquired Sapong Cold Spring in a compromise agreement held at barangay Tabok with the Abonitalla family, owner of the land, last week.

A major tourist destination in the province, Sapong Cold Spring is a natural spring which has been a primary source for tap water and irrigation. It also has served as swimming resort and becomes a hub of family or social gatherings.

The municipal government has invested for its development since the 50s. Claims of ownership of this resource however has been a subject of court proceedings.

This year, the provincial government of Misamis Oriental planned to allot P2.5 million for the renovation of Sapong Spring and will be used to put additional tiles as part the renovation plan following the reacquisition.

Lagonglong, a 5th class municipality located some 766 km South-East of Manila, capital of the Philippines.

Meanwhile, Misamis Oriental is all set for the most-awaited annual event in the province, the Kuyamis Festival 2019 on Jan. 7-11 highlighting the celebration of the province’s 89th founding anniversary. (pia x)
