Cocpo spokesman Senior Insp. Allan Curato said this evebn as he assured the police would have enough manpower, including volunteers, for security operations here, especially on All Saints’ and All Souls’ days.

Curato said various barangays would also help the police by fielding “tanod” who would patrol areas in and outside cemeteries.

By tomorrow, he said police would start using highly trained dogs as they patrol cemeteries.

Police are expecting people to start flocking to cemeteries on Monday.

“Ila pud nga gimonitor karon ang atong mga terminal,” he said.

On Monday, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) would also deploy workers to help keep order in all cemeteries here.

City police director Senior Supt. Ronnie Francis Cariaga said it’s all systems go for the local police and the CDRRMC, and security measures in preparation for the influx of people at cemeteries, terminals, and churches next week are now in place.

Camp Alagar and Camp Evangelista would beef the Cocpo security operations as well as in other areas in Region 10.

“All leaves of absence are canceled. Extended hours for PNP personnel in all stations will be observed. Their usual eight- to 12-hour duty will be extended,” Cariaga said.

Camp Alagar would be deploying “maneuver units” such as its special action forces, regional public safety battalions and provincial public safety companies. These groups would be on “standby mode” 24 hours a day.

Cariaga said the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) has tapped civilian volunteers, radio communication groups and barangay peacekeeping action teams to serve as “force multipliers.”

He said security at checkpoints, manned by the police and Army soldiers, has been stepped up especially in Lumbia, Puerto and Iponan.

Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA) operations chief Nonito Oclarit said they have also prepared a vehicular traffic plan that would be implemented starting tomorrow until 8 pm on Thursday.
