The deactivation was made pursuant to a resolution of the Committee on National Defense and Security of the House of Representatives dated Oct. 8, 2018.

“The local government of Dipolog City and the Philippine Army have agreed to deactivate the SCAA temporarily during the election period to avoid speculations that it will be used for purposes other than that for which it was created,” Ltc Ryan N. Severo of the 5th Infantry Battalion said in the report.

He added that during the deactivation period all equipment, firearms, and ammunition of the SCAA will be deposited at the military headquarters in the area.

Reactivation of the SCAA will be made in July.
