KIDAPAWAN City– The Kidapawan City government will implement fully an ordinance requiring all business establishments in the city to install Closed- Circuit TV cameras as a form of crime deterrent. ”There’s no more reason for business owners not to comply with the ordinance. The city government has already given them ample time or grace period to obey the ordinance,” City Councilor Francis Palmones.

Palmones, former Kidapawan City judge and chair of the Sangguniang Panglungsod Committee on Peace and Order, authored the ordinance the city council passed in 2013. The implementing rules and regulations was released early this year.
He said the full implementation of the CCTV ordinance will be in July.

Under the ordinance, all business establishments in the city are required to install CCTV cameras and business permits will not be renewed or issued unless the establishments have what the law requires. A P5,000 penalty awaits violators for the first offense. On the third offense, the business permit will be revoked, Palmones explained. He explained that the local ordinance aims to help minimize, if not eradicate, cases of robbery, shoplifting and crimes from happening. pna
