THE Cagayan Electric Power and Light Co. (Cepalco) yesterday issued a 10-day schedule of rotating blackouts in the city and some parts of Misamis Oriental.

The new schedule takes effect today until Dec. 20.

In an advisory, Cepalco spokesperson Marilyn Chavez said the new blackout schedule is still “due to the continuing power shortage in Mindanao.”

Cepalco divided its franchise areas into four groups. Consumers in each grouping can expect blackouts of up to four hours daily during the period.

Group 1:  1 pm to 5 pm, Dec. 11-13; 9 am to 1 pm, Dec. 14-16; and 5 pm to  9 pm, Dec. 17-20. Areas include the greater portion of Carmen, Upper Carmen, Macanhan, lower and upper Balulang, NHA Phase 3, Kauswagan, Bulua, Iponan, Pagatpat, Zayas, greater parts of upper and lower Camaman-an, JR Borja Extention, Bolonsori, Cogon and Lapasan.

Group 2: 5 pm to 9 pm, Dec. 11-13; 1 pm to 5 pm, Dec. 14-16; 9 am to 1 pm, Dec. 17-20/ Areas include the greater portion of Tagoloan down to, Bugo, Puerto, Agusan, Tablon; all of Barangay Macasandig from Tambo, Tibasak, Mandumol, Aluba, Buena Oro, up to Taguanao, including some parts of Divisoria, Velez St., PabayoSt., Cruz Taal St., and Burgos St.; and subdivisions in upper Balulang, Xavier Estates, Xavier Heights, Golden Glow Village 1 and 2, Dran Europa, down to PN Roa and all of Barangay Lumbia; Baloy, Gusa, Agora, Malasag and all of Jasaan.

Group 3: 9 am to 1 pm, Dec. 11-13; 5 pm to 9 pm, Dec. 14-16; and finally 1 pm to pm, Dec. 17-20. Areas include Bonbon, Bayabas, Patag, Apovel and greater parts of Barangay Nazareth, NHA Phases 1 and 2, Capisnon, RER Phases 1 and 2 and all of Barangay Consolacion.

On Sunday, 11 hours of blackout would be experienced in some parts of the city due to Cepalco maintenance work in Gusa.

The blackout, from 7 am to 6 pm, would affect some parts of Gusa, Villa Ernesto Phases 1 and 2, and areas from Galaxy, Robinson Supermarket, DxKO Station up to the Gusa barangay hall.

Cepalco said this is to facilitate a 69-kv pole erection and line maintenance works at Villa Ernesto along Gusa highway.

The greater portion of Barangay Macasandig would be affected starting along Tomas Saco street towards Barangay Hall, High Ridge, Aluba, Buena Oro, up to Taguanao, down to Tibasak and Mandumol.

Cepalco has assured the public that power will be restored immediately if line works and maintenance are completed earlier than scheduled.
