Chali Beach celebrates 25th Anniversary

It was a joyous occasion at Chali Beach Resort & Conference Center as it celebrated its silver anniversary as well as its 65^th founding day at its Acacia Ballroom last June 21 filled with festive music, performance from its staff, awarding ceremony, and a gathering of Chali Family from past to present.

Looking back over the years I have spent most of my childhood in Chali, recalling wonderful and intimate moments of my life, including memories of friends who celebrated their weddings, had a few first times there too; such as my first interview with Bernie Bitok-Bitok a well-known radio disk jockey, but won’t go into details of all of it  – and of course some few bad times as well.

Going back on their celebration the company recalled its humble beginning as a family resort. Now as it grew to something extraordinary it has still revolved around Family and God – and with the help of Si Dong & Ma’am Ging Chavez’ children it has remained as such and would remain as is in the years to come.

“I would like to acknowledge the employees first, we could not have gone this far without the help, and understanding of our colleagues. Over the years some of them stayed with them stayed with us for 20 years, some 15. For 25 years they are always behind us in the success of Chali Beach,” Sir Dong said.

Established in 1955 patterned after jali Beach Resort of the jalandonis in Cavite. It had a Japanese Garden, a Putting green, cottages, and a basketball court and the Talisay Tree House that the family built – making them the pioneer beach resort in Cagayan de Oro.

And on 1990 Juanito “Dodong” Chavez with his wife Ging decided to take over Chali from its former lessors. recalling they left Chali with bad impressions due to neglects. But he pressed on; during its early years it was sluggish far from the Chali beach we know now it continues to adapt to the growing demands of the tourism sector.

For her closing remarks ma’am Ging expressed her heartfelt gratitude to everyone who came and celebrated with them, from its employees, clients, and to her family for being with them over the years.

“First thank you for trusting Chali, to all our clients, customers, and staff and employees, we hope you would continue to come here and avail of our services, and all this would not be possible without God, thank you and God Blessed us all,” Ma’am Ging concluded.

Chali Beach may have its ups and down over the years, but still it stood the test of time. Twenty five years in the tourism service industry is no simple achievement. Being this city’s pioneering beach resort for over six decades it has proven time and again that they are here to say.
