THE City Council has enacted Ordinance No. 13317-2017 appropriating P2.5 million from the five-percent calamity fund to be made available as financial assistance to the victims of the fire that occurred in Barangays 22 and 26.

This is in response to the special report of Councilor Reuben Daba, chair of the City Council committee on social services, regarding the fire that hit the barangays on Oct. 12.

During the regular session last week presided over by Councilor Zaldy O. Ocon, Councilor Daba reported that in Barangay 26 the total cost to damages is P23.3 million and P5.7 million in Barangay 22.

The councilor said the fire incident damaged 73 houses, which affected 126 families and 604 persons.

He reported that 113 families were served by City Social Welfare and Development in the two barangays.

Legislators declared portions of Barangays 26 and 22 under a state of calamity. (clo)
