City curfew remains enforced even with Diyandi Festival

Iligan City — Curfew hours will remain enforced even with the Diyandi Festival in the city this month.

Jose Pantoja, City Information Officer said the city has decided to enforce the city curfew to assure that the peace and order especially with the festivities on.

The Feast of St. Michael, the city’s patron saint is observed Sept. 28 and 29 ever year but festivities are a month-long affair and even extends to the first week of October.

“The city cannot do away with the curfew,” he said.

To note, curfew is observed every day, from 11:00 pm to 4:00 am. Minors’ curfew hours are from 10:00 pm to 5:00 am.

This is an aftermath of the Marawi seige, as the city is just 37 kilometers away from this city and a spill over has been a possibility even as thousands of evacuees have descended to the city. Satellite offices of formerl Marawi offices have also been set up in the city to serve Marawi evacuees displaced by the still on-going war.

Pantoja said that at 10 in the evening, mobile patrols will now be going around the city to remind people of the curfew to assure that everybody is safe.

He added that the city would try to have President Rodrigo Duterte come over to grace the festivities along with other dignitaries.

During the recently concluded Business Conference in Cagayan de Oro City, Pantoja said the President was able to come over and he might come over to the Diyandi Festival too.

Pantoja added the businessmen he during the conference asked him about the peace and order situation and he had gladly told them that the city police office here is national awardee.
