CITY Mayor Oscar Moreno announced that the city’s fiesta celebration on Aug. 28 will push through despite terrorism threats hounding Mindanao.

Taliwala sa mga threat, business as usual — fiesta as usual,” Moreno said.

However, Moreno urged the public to be alert.

“I would again urge everyone to keep their eyes and ears open. Be vigilant. Tinabangay ‘ta. After all ang security is everybody’s concern,” he said.

Moreno said he decided not to postpone the celebration of the city’s fiesta to show “solidarity and compassion amidst diverse cultures and faiths.”

Ang fiesta is a religious activity. Ato kanang pamaagi og pasalamat kang Señor San Agustin ug pag-ampo usab sa Ginoo nga taga-an pa kita sa dugang mga grasya,” he said.

Moreno added he cannot postpone the city fiesta since it has been a traditional date for homecoming and family reunions of Kagay-anons.
