The agreement states that PLDT has been implementing the Infoteach Outreach Program as a mechanism to achieve their vision, which is for Filipinos to become globally competitive. The project, PLDT Infoteach, has two components namely, the training component and the PLDT Home Fiber Broadband Quiz Contest.

This nationwide project of PLDT is part of its corporate social responsibility advocacy and is intended to raise, improve, and enhance the knowledge of public school students in the field of information and communication technology.

The program is a continuation of the previous engagements the city government had in the past with the said company.

Mayor Oscar Moreno in his letter dated Aug. 31 signified that he couldn’t attend the agreement signing on Sept. 13 at the Asian Institute of Management Conference Center Manila, Makati City. He delegated Vice Mayor Uy or Councilor Daba, to represent the city government of Cagayan de Oro in his behalf.

Councilor Leon Gan said following the law and protocol, it should be the mayor who should be authorized to sign the agreement. In circumstances when he could not attend the signing is to delegate a person in behalf of the city to sign the agreement. (sp)
