CITY hall officials led by Mayor Oscar Moreno yesterday broke ground for the P78-million Plaza Divisoria Ampitheater project on Thursday morning.
Initial work on the project funded by the office of Sen. Aquilino Pimentel III which consisted of fencing and demolition of outlying structures began on April 1.
Aside from the Ampitheater, the project to be implemented by the regional Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH-10) also includes a multi-level parking building, a monument, office buildings for the city police and others and a ramp and footbridge structures.
Moreno said the ampitheater project, similar to landmarks around the world, should be protected and preserved by the current generation and future generations of Cagayanons.
Also in attendance were officials of the United Architects of the Philippines-Cagayan de Oro chapter who designed the project. (SC/CIO)
