Chief Insp.  Ariel Philip Pontillas was installed on Monday afternoon as Gingoog’s new police chief, replacing Supt. Roel Lami-ing.

He was installed by provincial police director for administration Arden Jover Amogod.

Lami-ing’s news assignment remains unclear but he would be reporting for work to Camp Alagar in Cagayan de Oro.

PO1 Roy Peligrino said Pontillas paid a courtesy call to Mayor Marie Guingona  an hour after he took over as head of the Gingoog City Police Office.

Gingoog’s business community  is optimistic that the police under Pontillas would improve the city’s peace and order situation, said Dante Salang, manager of Prince Town here.

Salang said, “We are very confident that [the problem on] criminality in the city will be solved with the new police leadership. Dili man gani totally masulbad peru makalaom kami nga maminusan ang mga kaso sama sa kawat ug uban pa dinhi sa Gingoog.”
