Lawyer Ramil Acol, city elections registrar, said Agustine Laron of Indahag was ordered removed from his present position.

Reads part of the resolution: “The respondent’s certificate of candidacy for SK chairman of Barangay Indahag is hereby cancelled. The votes cast in his favor is (sic) considered stray.”

The document was signed by Maria Rowena Guanzon, Marlon Casquejo, and presiding Commissioner Al Pareño of the Comelec 1st Division.

Acol said the commission ordered the barangay’s board of canvassers to reconvine and change the certificate of votes and proclamation.

The board was also ordered to declare the candidate who got the highest number of votes to be the winner in the May 2018 barangay and SK elections.

Acol said the resolution would be passed to the Comelec’s law department for further proceedings or to see whether what other cases can be filed against Laron. Acol however said Laron could still appeal his case.

The Comelec office here had suspended the proclamation of 14 winning SK candidates in the city due to questions about their ages.
