The three-day Comelec activity in the city would be held simultaneously with similar public hearings on the proposed mall voting to be held across the country.

Misamis Oriental elections supervisor Carlito Ravelo said the city was identified as potential pilot areas for the mall voting plan being introduced by Elections Chairman Andres Bautista.

If plans don’t miscarry, many voters would be allowed to vote at Centrio Mall, SM Cagayan de Oro, and Robinson’s at Limketkai center.

Today’s public hearing has been set at 2 pm at Centrio Mall. Another public hearing would be conducted tomorrow at the ground floor of SM-Cagayan de Oro’s car park, and at the 2nd floor of Robinson’s on Friday.

Ravelo said the plan would involve voters from Barangay 24, Barangay 26, Barangay 31, and Carmen under polling precincts nos.  0387H, 0387K, 0387L, 0387N, 0388A, 0388B, 0388E, 0388F, 0388I, 0388J and 0388N.

Ravelo said mall voting is being practiced in other countries like the US.

“Kon makita sa Comelec nga successful ang resulta niining mall voting sa May 9 elections,  posibling sa sunod pang mga election after May 9,  apil na tingali ni-ana ang mga hotel, simbahan, ug uban pang mga lugar nga dagsa-an sa mga tawo, himo-on nga  polling precincts,” Ravelo said.
