Candidates who ran the recent Sangguniang Kabataan and Barangay elections must file their Statement of Contributions and Expenditures (Soce). Even those who did not win and those who have been disqualified must file, lawyer Renato Magbutay, Commission on Elections (Comelec-10), regional director said.

He said in order for those who win to sit in their respective posts, they must not skip filing their Soce.

Magbutay said failure to do so would mean disqualification to run for any elected position again.

Earlier, Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez clarified that even those who were declared by the commission disqualified are obliged to file the Soce if they still want to run for public office again.

“As long as you file your Certificate of Candidacy, you must file your Soce,” Jimenez said.

Candidates must use the Comelec form, which is downloadable from the poll body’s website, and it must be personally signed.

The Comelec warned that candidates for the village and youth polls who fail to submit their Soce’s before the deadline risk being “perpetually disqualified to hold public office.”
