A MAN, believed to be suffering from depression, hanged himself with a rope yesterday morning.
Police identified the suicide as 50-year old Verlene Dablio, a construction worker of Zone 6, Calaanan, Barangay Canitoan, this city.
It was his septuagenarian mother Erma who found Dablio dead inside his house at around 6 am.
The construction worker killed himself by tying a nylon cord around his neck.
His mother said she last saw her son, reeking with liquor, entering his room. She said she did not expect her son to take his own life.
Erma said she suspected family problems prompted her son to commit suicide.
“Sigi man gud na sila away sa iyang asawa hilabi na kung mahubog siya kay supak man kaayo iyang asawa kung moinum siya,” she said.
Dablio’s widow Joy said her husband was a loner who had suffered from depression. He hardly talked with other people, she said.
“Bootan man kaayo na siya kung dili makainum pero kung mahubog na gani sigi na dayon pangaway bisan walay rason,” Joy said.
Investigators said Dablio had attempted suicide last year.
His family no longer sought an autopsy because they were convinced that it was a case of suicide.
