Iligan City — Two construction workers, who decided to go fishing after a drinking spree here, drowned off the coast of Iligan City.
The fatalities were identified as siblings Fernando and Candido Mendoza Tonghay, both hail from Zamboanga City.
Numerano, who is a brother of the two fatalities, said Fernando and Candido were drinking alcoholic drinks before deciding to go fishing with their nets off the coast of Global Steel and Marcelo Fertilizer in Barangay Fuentes, this city.
Numerano told authorities the two were only in waist deep water but posited that the two might have waded onto a deep and cavernous portion of the waters.
He said the two suddenly disappeared and after 20 minutes, Fernando and Candido suddenly floated to the surface already bloated with sea water. (Nora Soriño, Sita Asequia and Ric Palahang)
