Iligan City — The contractors here are “not interested” in dealing with the city government, as far as supply requirements are concerned.
This was revealed by Vice Mayor Jemar Vera Cruz in a speech at the flag raising ceremony early this week.
This is because there are several contractors who have not been paid because departments concerned are “very strict and meticulous” as to the paper requirements in connection with the supplies. There are supplies who have not been paid for transactions in 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018. He then enjoined concerned department heads to attend to the matter as soon as possible.
To recall, Vera Cruz, his chief of staff, and several incumbent councilors along with several suppliers were subject of eight cases by the Office of the Ombudsman on April 4 in which they were required to shed light on several paid transactions on the matter of supplies. City officials have yet to comment on the matter.
