POLICE arrested a businessman, a fugitive, and a drug suspect, his son and relative, and two others for various crimes on separate operations over the weekend.

Authorities identified those arrested as Eduardo Pacilan Jr., 44, of Zone 6,   Reyes Village in Barangay Bugo, Joel Mondejar,  38, of  Dangcagan in Bukidnon, Arlon Cartagena, 42, and his son Kingsley, 18, and Junemar Lumbre, 21 of Zone 8, Barangay Bulua, and stabbing suspects Lorencio Sobretodo, 47, and his son Joel, 26, of Ramonal Village,  Camama-an.

The Criminal Investigation and Detection  Group (CIDG) yesterday pressed charges of illegal arms possession, illegal possession of ammunition, and illegal possession of explosive.

Police found a caliber .45 pistol, a 9mm machine pistol, many bullets, and a fragmentation grenade during a raid in Pacilan’s home in Bugo on Sunday afternoon, said Chief Insp. Melgar Devaras, chief of the CIDG in the city.

Devaras said the CIDG raided Pacilan’s house based on a search warrant issued by Judge  Dennis Alcantar.

In Bukidnon, members of the Cugman and Dangcagan town police arrested Mondejar who was wanted for homicide since 2010.

Chief Insp. Ian Borinaga, chief of the Cugman police, said Mondejar was the No.4 most wanted person in Cugman, and he was caught on Saturday morning in Barongcot, Dangcagan town.

Mondejar was wanted for the death of a brother of Michael Cartagena who filed the homicide case.

Meanwhile, police also pressed charges against Arlon Cartagena and his son Kingsley and Lumbre, a day after they were arrested in Zone Bulua.

Supt. Danildo Tumanda, city police deputy director for administration, said police raided their house and seize a sachet of suspected shabu, drug paraphernalia, a caliber .45 pistol, a homemade shotgun, a grenade, and bullets.

Tumanda and other police officials presented the suspects to Mayor Oscar Moreno at city hall yesterday.

Hours earlier, police caught Sobretodo, and his son Joel, suspects in a stabbing and shooting incident on Tiano Bros-Tirso Neri streets at around 12:45 am yesterday.

Insp. Rutherford Ordin, deputy chief of the Divisoria police said the Sobretodos were identified by three witnesses as responsible for the stabbing and shooting of Alexander Ocor, 49, of Zayas, Carmen.

Ordin said a complaint for homicide and concealing of deadly weapon was filed against the two suspects before the City Prosecutor’s Office. (nitz arancon)
