The 36-year-old worker, a widower, was accused of abusing his daughter not once, but repeatedly, said Capt. Dennis Ebsolo, Lumbia police station commander.

The worker from Sitio Bitaug, Barangay Taglimao, this city, confessed to committing the crime, and said he was willing to go to prison for life.

His seven-year-old daughter pointed to him, and told the police she was abused even when they were living in Iligan City.

The sexual abuse of the first grader was first brought to the attention of the police by her furious grandfather on Sunday.

He said the girl confided to him that her father had played with her genitalia with his fingers, a revelation that prompted the grandfather to immediately go to the police station to have it blottered.

Ebsolo said they then went to South Point Subdivision in Barangay Lumbia where the suspect was working, and arrested him there.

The suspect has been detained and would be charged by the police.

This paper is withholding the suspect’s identity in order to protect his daughter.
