CITY police director Senior Supt. Faro Antonio Olaguera said the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo) would continue stepping up security measures at city hall despite Mayor Oscar Moreno’s declaration that normalcy has returned last week.

Olaguera said the police were under instructions from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) to keep an eye on the city’s seat of government because of the volatile situation that resulted from a dismissal order against Moreno by the ombudsman.

“The present city hall storm has been  weathered at the moment pending the final say of the court,” said Olaguera but added that the city police would not take chances.

Meanwhile, Mayor Oscar Moreno frowned over Vice Mayor Caesar Ian Acenas’s threat that “your days are numbered” but added that he was unfazed and would continue with his work.

Moreno said he would just let Acenas’s pronouncements pass so that he would not be distracted, and focus on his job.

He called on the Padayon Pilipino-dominated city council to “cooperate” with his administration in the remaining months before next year’s elections.

(nitz arancon)
