ILIGAN City — Operatives of Police Station 2 arrested over the weekend s certain “Michael,” an alleged member of the Mapandi Brothers Criminal Gang in a buy-bust operation at the roadside near Highway 30, in Barangay Bagong Silang, this city.

Station 2 Officer-in-Charge Senior Insp. Dexter Sabayton Ceniza reported that at about 1:15 pm on Oct. 15, together with SPO2 Sedric Sansarona, SPO1 Franco Villaruz, PO3 Walter Cabaneros, PO3 Jayson Toldo, PO1 John Michael Cayon and PO1 Melvin Sibing and personnel of Police Station 1 PSI Felix Nuevo Rabago, Jr., conducted a buy-bust operation resulting in the arrest of “Michael” who turned out to be Mahdi Lucas Mapandi, of legal age, jobless and a resident of Block 2, NSC Village, Luinab, this city.

Reportedly confiscated from the possession of the suspect were one big-sized heat sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance believed to be shabu, one brown leather wallet containing two drivers licenses, one Voter’s ID, and one firearm license card (all identification cards bearing different names), one NMAX Yamaha Motorcycle with no license plate and marked money consisting of one P500 bill bearing Serial No. GM887457 and four P100 bills with Serial Nos. AG988531, XT078600, AF845607, and DG782827.

The report also stated that PO1 Melvin Siblag conducted the actual inventory of the confiscate items at the scene of the crime in the presence of Barangay Kagawads Rosalinda Camara and Lila Luz Garciano of Barangay Bag-ong Silang.

Accordingly, the evidentiary value of the confiscated/seized items were preserved by the apprehending officers and subsequently brought to the PNP Crime Laboratory in  Tipanoy.

The suspect is temporarily detained at Iligan City Police Station 1 while charges are being prepared.
