POLICE shot and killed a 60-year-old man who allegedly robbed a couple along the coastal road in Lapasan on Wednesday. Like others killed by law enforcers before him, the suspect had suspected shabu, a caliber .38 revolver, and fought back — that is, according to the police.

Capt. Estephen Benbian, Macabalan police station chief, identified the fatality as Wilson Galvez of Sitio Bulawon in Barangay  Lumbia, this city.

Police shot him to the chest after he allegedly tried to fight it out with the law enforcers.

Benbian said the police responded to the complaint of one Ian Dave Lalisan who claimed that he and his partner were robbed.

Authorities proceeded to the area and spotted the suspect walking the place where the robbery took place.

He said police officers told the suspect to surrender but instead, he allegedly took out a caliber .38 revolver and tried to shoot law enforcers, prompting the latter to return fire.

Police alleged that Galvez had seven sachets of suspected shabu and a revolver.
