Maj. Silvestre Asiong Jr., Bukidnon police spokesman, said arresting officers would be filing cases against one Jerwel Adorable who allegedly tried to engage law enforcers in an armed confrontation in Purok Bayanihan, Barangay Salawagan, Quezon town.

Asiong said the 22-year-old Adorable would likely be charged with direct assault, attempted homicide, and illegal possession of firearms based on Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

According to a police report, the arresting team from the Quezon police station was about to serve the arrest warrants to Adorable’s brother Jovel, and Jason Paña a.k.a. Joy Hinampas when the suspect intervened.

Police said Jovel has a pending arrest warrant for murder while Paña has a warrant for frustrated homicide.

Asiong said both the suspects fled when they saw the police but Jerwel, who was not included in the warrant, faced the officers and allegedly drew a caliber .45 pistol.

He said the police shot the suspect “to prevent his unlawful aggression.”

“Suspect (Adorable) was hit on his right arm and was rushed to St. Claire Hospital for medical treatment,” reads a police report.

Recovered from the crime scene were a loaded Cobray Uzi with no serial number, a full magazine for the Uzi and a caliber .45 handgun with ammunition. Police also seized what they believe were amulets.

He said that although Adorable was not included in the warrant, they were still looking at his records.

“We are also investigating if these persons are engaged in gun-for-hire activities,” Asiong said.

He said police have continued their manhunt for the two suspects who eluded arrest.
