The Communist Party of the Philippines has lauded a unit of its armed wing, the New People’s Army, for a successful raid of two Civilian Active Auxiliary (CAA) detachments in Impasug-ong town, Bukidnon.
In an emailed press statement yesterday, Ka Malem Mabini, spokesperson of New People’s Army– North Central Mindanao Region (NPA-NCMR) lauded rebel combatants under the Eastern Misamis Oriental Northeastern Bukidnon Sub-Regional Command.
Mabini lauded the NPA unit in their successful simultaneous attack in two of the Army’s 8th Infantry Battalion’s Civilian Active Auxiliary (CAA) Patrol Base and in the disarmament of a landlord on Sept. 29, 12:30 am in Impasug-ong, Bukidnon.
The Red fighters attacked and overran a CAA Patrol Base in KM 30, Sityo Nasandigan, Barangay Kalabugao. The guerrilla unit seized two M14 rifles, two garands, two carbine rifles, a .38 revolver, a shotgun, live ammos, and several military equipment.
A soldier was found wounded-in-action.
According to the statement, soldiers and Cafgus scampered during the military action. The NPA also burned down the whole detachment before they withdrew the area.
At the same time, the same guerrilla unit harassed and bombed, with a command detonated explosive, a CAA Patrol Base in Barangay Hagpa, Impasug-ong, Bukidnon. The army troops scurried in horror and interspersed with the civilians, Mabini said.
Mabini said a landlord identified as Egong Pidad, a former councilor of Barangay Kalabugao, was also disarmed by the guerrillas.
“Pidad is despotic in grabbing more than 150 hectares of land in the said barangay, including Sitio Bagaay and Bagong Silang. Under the National Greening Program (NGP), he planted falcata in these occupied land. He also forced the farmers to work for him, who only received P100 daily wage,” the statement reads in part.

“These military actions only show how the revolutionary forces counter the fascist anti-people triple war of the US-Duterte regime. There’s no other legitimate forces who could reciprocate the brutal martial law of Duterte,” Mabini said in the statement.
