CAMP Crame yesterday ordered Brig. Gen. Rafael Santiago to step down as police director for Region 10 because of a 2012 logistics-related case.

Lt. Gen. Archie Francisco, acting chief of the National Police, issued the directive even as he pointed out that Santiago was slapped with an Oct. 21 suspension order.

“He was relieved because he has a suspension order… It’s about logistics. Parang hindi na-turn over ang firearms, so he was suspended for six months,” Gamboa said.

Santiago, a member of the Philippine Military Academy’s “Sinagtala” Class of 1986, is scheduled to retire in May next year.

Gamboa said the name of Santiago’s replacement would be announced tomorrow.

But Lt. Col. MardyHortillosa,  CampAlagar spokesman, said he could not yet confirm if Santiago was already relieved.

No order from Camp Crame has reached Camp Alagar at press time, he said.
